Easy & Clean Summer Makeup Routine
What Are We Looking For?
As summer heats up, we tend to spend more time outside in the sun, so our makeup and skincare needs change along with the nicer weather. However, we should never be compromising on using only the highest quality clean products. In this post, we’ve compiled a list of everything you’ll need in your makeup bag this summer with the following criteria in mind: wear-time, weight on the skin, SPF, overall quality and of course—ALL PRODUCTS MUST BE ‘CLEAN’!
SKIN
Sunscreen/Primer: SUPERGOOP GLOWSCREEN SUNSCREEN SPF 40
Prep your skin for the day with this SPF 40 primer lotion for all day sun protection and glow from within. This Allure 2020 best of beauty award winning product is reef safe, vegan and gluten & cruelty-free, and promises radiance, a pearlescent finish and instant tackiness for seamless makeup application (or not). FACE
Foundation: ILIA SUPER SERUM SKIN TINT SPF 40

Additionally, it offers blue light protection without the worry of a white or grey cast, gentle on sensitive skin and non-comedogenic (because summer breakouts are NOT the moment).

BROWS
Brow Gel: KOSAS AIR BROW TINTED CLEAN VOLUMIZING EYEBROW GEL

Mascara: MILK MAKEUP KUSH HIGH VOLUMIZING MASCARA
My personal favorite item on this list, and many others’ as well, is a cult-favorite
among beauty lovers: Milk Makeup’s KUSH High Volumizing Mascara. Featuring an extremely user-friendly wand (the cross-haired bristles don't miss a single lash) and unique heart-shaped fibers (compared to normal cylindrical ones), making it harder to make this mascara look clumpy or bad than anything else. More notably, the KUSH mascara contains cannabis seed oil derived from hemp, which nourishes for healthier and fuller lashes in the long term, while acting as an extremely effective bonding agent between the fibers and the lashes while you wear it (this allows for an especially long wear-time without it crumbling on your face). The mascara’s intense jet black hue is credited to the pure pigments used in the volumizing formula. In a clinical trial, first impressions showed 95% and 90% effectiveness in volume & length and thickness, respectively. LIPS
SPF Lip Gloss: Supergoop Lipscreen SPF 40
Just like the rest of your body, your lips, in fact especially your lips, need protection from the hot summer sun. Supergoop’s LipScreen provides not only SPF 40 (to protect against the sun’s harmful UVA, UVB & UVC rays), but it also includes relatively high concentrations of grape seed extract and sunflower seed oil, which respectively contain antioxidants (to prevent damage from free-radicals caused by excess sun exposure) and vitamin E & omega-6 fatty acids (to protect against environmental damage caused by excess sun exposure). Sunflower seed oil also helps hold moisture, and when used with kelp extract (which hydrates, nourishes & reinforces the top layer), your lips remain soft and shielded from the sun, signs of premature aging, dehydration and colorlessness.
